Solecism

I started with pen and paper calligraphy, to get into the blackletter mindset and refamiliarize myself with the forms. After I had drawn a good number of letters on paper, I moved to Glyphs. I used my paper sketches more as a reference than as something to directly translate, and began drawing the forms. I went through a few rounds of feedback, refining my shapes as I went. While the scope of this project was fairly small, I fell in love with this typeface, and plan to continue to work on it and expand it in the future.

Replicating organic shapes with pixels was a really fun challenge! This project definitely opened my eyes to the world of pixel fonts, and I definitely plan to make more in the future. Having such a limited drawing space with such tightly defined parameters makes type design even more of a (fun) puzzle!
