My lettering process is generally the same for each piece I do. I start by writing out the quote in normal handwriting and circling the important words. Then, I sketch a bunch of thumbnails as options for various layouts. Once I have one I like, I resize that thumbnail to be the size of the final piece. I draw over it many times, refining more and more each time, until I’m happy with the final.
I’ve been creating pieces like this for quite some time, and it’s fun to see how my style changes and evolves as I learn more about letterforms and composition.
