Design a typeface based on dialogue cards from silent films.

I scrapped my first attempt at this typeface. I had been tracing letterforms from screenshots of silent films instead of redrawing the letters by hand. This made the letterforms feel messy and non-uniform.Once I started over, the process went much quicker—partly because I had done it before, and partly because I started with a stronger foundation of letters that I could disassemble and reassemble into other characters.
This is the second typeface I’ve ever designed, and I think it came out much better than the first. Hopefully that trend continues as I learn more about type design. Also, I haven’t decided if I want to draw a bold or italic for this one yet... it’s definitely a possibility!
