In my role as an intern at Macmillan Audio, I was responsible for adapting various hardcover designs into a square audiobook format. Additionally, I designed advertisements for audio titles: gifs for newsletters and website, static graphics and short form videos for social media ads, and even one-color ads that get published in the back of print books.
In my nine months of working at Macmillan, I adapted over 150 hardcover designs into audiobook covers. It’s a really fun design challenge—like a puzzle, almost. How can you rearrange the elements into a completely different shape while still maintaining as much of the original layout as possible?
In addition to covers, I also created various assets for the marketing and promotion of audiobooks. These assets ranged from end cards for Reels, full-length Reels, static and gif ads for placement in newsletters and websites, back ads for print books, animated covers, postcards, activity sheets, and influencer boxes.
